Hope vs. Discouragement

Hope vs. Discouragement

We can all get discouraged at work from time to time, even if you have the greatest job, boss, co-workers, and salary on planet Earth.  Don’t know why, but I have been struggling over the past couple of days with thoughts and feelings of discouragement.

It finally occurred to me today that I need to start speaking life into my spirit if I want things to change.  Proverbs says “words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.  So here are some verses I’ve been speaking over myself today.  Maybe they’ll be helpful to you as well:

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Fix my eyes on God—soon I’ll be praising again.  -Ps 42:5

Don’t get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith. -Gal. 6:9

Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up.  Expect God to get here soon.  -Ps. 31:24

God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down.  -Ps. 27:6

God, your God, is leading the way; he’s fighting for you.  -Deu. 1:30

People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit.  Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.  -Is. 26:3
