  • Baby Conway is here!

After cooking in momma’s belly for a very long 9 months, our new baby boy arrived this past Saturday, the 20th at 5:42am. Caleb Dean Conway came into the world at a very hefty 8lbs 7oz and 21 inches. We were so glad because we were beginning to wonder if he was getting too comfortable in there. We learned there are actually Castor Oil recipes to help it go down easier (drizzle over ice cream, for instance)…fortunately, it never came to that! I was personally hoping he’d come on my birthday (the 16th) but I suppose it’s good he gets his own day anyway.

Thank you to everyone for their prayers and support!! We are so blessed by this new little one. Even our 2 year-old, Ben, is taking it in stride (that’s a real answer to prayer!).

Idol does Shout to the Lord

By popular demand, I’ve posted both performances of the Idol contestants doing “Shout to the Lord.” Many of you noticed they took out the word “Jesus” the first night, but put it back in the following night. My guess is the producers received a lot of flack for it. Enjoy!

    Love Is Not a Fight

    Warren Barfield
It’s not very often that I come across a song where the lyrics just about knock me out of my seat. But Warren Barfield’s latest song “Love Is Not a Fight” did that to me (more than once). I had the unique privilege of chatting a bit with Warren about this song not too long ago and to pick his brain on where the inspiration came from.

He told me that he and his wife never fight…really…except for maybe once a year where everthing kind of builds up and they let it all out. Then they’re fine for the rest of the year. They had one of those fights not too far back, over something pretty silly. In fact, he can’t even remember what the fight was about. But at one point he says he actually uttered the words, “Well it might be easier if I just left.” He couldn’t believe he had actually said it. And he realized it’s that simple…just to walk out the door.

In this song, he asks God to send down his angels to guard the door. That’s what he imagined God doing that night he almost let it all slip away. And the resounding chorus reminds us “Love is not a fight, but it’s something worth fighting for.”

Most of us either know someone who is going through the process of separation or divorce, or perhaps have been down that road ourselves. May this song be our anthem, to remind us how fragile love is. Hear a sample of the song in the player below and be listening for it here on WGTS 91.9.
