Job Description
Title: Chaplain/Full-time Salaried

SUMMARY
Responsible for managing all chaplain department functions and team members; the spiritual care and well-being of the WGTS 91.9 team; overseeing the spiritual direction and tone of the ministry keeping it consistent throughout the various channels of communication. Responsible for managing the chaplain department’s budget; participates and supports fundraising and promotional activities of the ministry, and in implementing the overall mission, vision and strategy of the ministry; is a member of the leadership team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with management and on-air team during emergencies, supporting the team and going on-air as requested to help listeners cope with the emergency from a spiritual perspective.
Represent the media ministry at various industry and community functions and events.
Host, preach and present upfront at various community functions and events, including area schools, churches of many different denominations, and community organizations.
Participate in preparing written, video and audio content for distribution amongst a variety of social media platforms, websites and on-air.
Communicate via email, phone, and in person with donors, churches, and people of influence in our listening area and beyond.
Creatively engage partner churches in various aspects of the ministry such as PrayerWorks, Hands & Heart initiatives, fundraisers and more.
Manages regular chaplain department programs such as Gateway Fellowship, Live Night, and also occasional programs such as Night of Hope.
Develop and maintain proper administration procedures for the department in accordance with policy.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet regularly with general manager and leadership team.
Attend, lead and participate in team meetings, retreats, and functions.
Attend and present at various fundraising events. Help raise money for the ministry; in person, during on-air fundraisers, and various other ways, including networking with donors and visiting them along with station management.
Attend seminars, webinars, and conventions associated with learning and improving; continuing education, certification.
Contribute to the wider community through publication, teaching, and research.
Author or co-author materials relevant to spiritual care.
Participate in teaching/lecturing on a regular or periodic basis as invited and approved.
Participate in research relevant to the field.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision Received:
Reports to the Vice President/General Manager
Supervision Given:
Has a direct supervisory responsibility over various full and part time employees, student employees and volunteers.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the station’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring and training student employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining student employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in related field
Five or more years of experience in a ministry position, pastoral or chaplain in the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Chaplain certification preferred
Must possess strong counseling skills and have at least 2 years of counseling experience

Language Skills:
Superior command of English grammar and spelling.
Advanced verbal and written communication abilities.
Exceptional presentation skills and public speech ability.
Mathematical and Technology Skills:
Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to learn new software packages.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Exhibits superior leadership skills and ability to work effectively and constructively with a wide variety of people from many backgrounds and cultures.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Possesses capacity for planning and organizing.
Must be able to exercise excellent judgement in selecting and producing content appropriate to station audience and while meeting management and ownership standards.
Must be able to remain calm and in control during stressful situations.
The ability to work on a team and independently.

Title: Afternoon Drive Host (Full-time)
Summary
The Afternoon Announcer is responsible for creating, producing, and announcing over the radio and online; news, interviews, weather, traffic, devotionals, and other matters of interest. The Announcer represents the ministry to the community in many different ways – in person and on site.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play music, spots, and various elements on the air from numerous pieces of equipment and deliver compelling, spiritually uplifting, and entertaining live content in real-time over the air.
  • Produce, write, record and edit (using multitrack digital editor) short feature programs, spots, bits, and elements for broadcast.
  • Conduct interviews in studio, via phone and Internet for live and pre-recorded broadcast. Prepare and edit interviews for on-air use and online distribution.
  • Determine news, weather, and traffic information appropriate for broadcast. Write and edit news copy. Prepare and deliver this informational content live or recorded in an interesting way.
  • Prepare, write, and review public service announcements, underwriting announcements, pre-recorded reports, and audio elements.
  • Work closely with producers and assistants to create timely program content.
  • Operate various pieces of office, radio broadcast, and audio editing equipment.
  • Answer phone calls, record, edit, and determine what should and shouldn’t be aired.
  • Represent station at industry and community functions and events.
  • Host and present upfront at various community functions and events, including schools, churches, and community organizations.
  • Develop creative contests and issue prizes to winners.
  • Develop, produce, and distribute written, video, audio, and graphical content daily via a variety of social media platforms and websites.
  • Communicate via email, phone, and in person with financial donors, and people of influence.
  • Ensure that the WGTS 91.9 transmitter is operating within FCC determined parameters, adjusting transmitter power when necessary or shutting down the system completely if conditions require it.
  • Run broadcasting tests as requested by the chief engineer.
  • Support engineering team as needed when troubleshooting studio equipment issues.
  • Develop a general understanding of the central equipment rack as requested by the chief engineer.
  • Monitor the on-air broadcast and the online Netcast at the beginning of each shift for delivery stability.
  • Monitor for EAS alerts; record and air as directed by supervisor.
