The Arlington Hunger Project is a huge community efforttofeedhungry children/families in our area healthy food!We hope to drawover 600 volunteers from northern Virginia, DC, and MD to pack 100,000 healthy meals through an organization called Feeding Children Everywhere. Feeding Children Everywhere was recently featured in Time Magazine in the article "Game Changers: 5 New 'Next Big Things'" for their nutritious, easy-to-prepare lentil casserole, which is a blend of lentils, rice, deyhdrated vegetables, himilayan sea salt, and vitamins and minerals. This blendwasdesigned to feed hungry children a delicious and nutritionally balanced meal at a cost of only 25 cents per meal. The meal is low in sodium and sugar and high in vitamins and blends well with canned goods food bank clients often receive. It is delicious alone, but also quite versatile as it can be prepared in various ways. Volunteers will be assembling these components into meal packets and the meals will then be distributed through Capital Area Food Bank and Arlington Food Assistance Center.

Our fund-raising goal is 25K; at only 25 cents per healthy meal, this will enable us to pack 100,000 healthy meals for two of the large food banks in our area. We are called to action by the need for healthy food in our food banks to feed children/families in need. We would like to put out a call for donations and volunteers on 91.9 if possible, as we need to raise the money and have the volunteers registered prior to the event!
