|In Prase of God in Creation, Life and Death
at Messiah United Methodist Church,6215 Rolling Road, Springfield, VA; messiahumc.org
On Sunday, February 24th, at 3 p.m., Music at Messiah will present one of the most thrilling and exhilarating concerts in praise of God. There will be a 25 member orchestra, use of our magnificent new organ, singers from Washington National Opera and 70 singers, praising God with the most powerful words of the Te Deum (To God) and the inspiring and glorious music of Anton Bruckner. You will not be able to leave this concert without feeling the overwhelming majesty of God in every part of your body.
In Addition to Te Deum, we will also feel God's glory through List's Totentanz (Death Dance), based on the Dies Irae (Day of Wrath). Our own Lisa and Greg Bloy have arranged this orchestra and piano piece for organ and piano. The arrangement is breathtaking and Lisa's playing will have you on the edge of your seat. Rounding out the program will be Palladio by Karl Jenkins (known as the DeBeer's diamond commercial music), and two hauntingly lovely pieces by Ola Gjeilo; The Ground and Tundra; for choir and strings.
The concert is free. A free will offering will be taken. No reservations or tickets required.
