Violinist Dr. Rami Kanaan and pianist Bettye Cooley return to the Oakton Church of the Brethren Community Concert Series to perform three beautiful sonatas by W.A. Mozart on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 7 p.m. Through a lecture-recital format, the audience will learn about Mozart's life and characteristics of the Classical musical style, hearing excerpts of the music demonstrating different points, before the two musicians play each complete piece.
The hour-long performance is free admission, with donations accepted for outreach programs of the church. No reservations are required; just come, take a seat, and enjoy!
About the Musicians:
Dr. Rami Kanaan is an adjunct professor of violin at Northern Virginia Community College (Alexandria Campus). He graduated with honors (first prize) from the High Institute of Music in Damascus, Syria. He completed his Masters of Arts in violin performance, Graduate Certificate in college teaching, and Doctorate of Arts in higher education at George Mason University.
Bettye Cooley received her M.M. in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from George Mason University. She maintains a private piano studio in the Centreville area and is active as a church musician.
