This special workshop led by Ms. H. Kathy Williams, Suicide Prevention Community Advocate, Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church, Durham, NC and Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble, Director, The AAKOMA Project/ Assistant Professor, Georgetown University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, has a three-fold purpose: to raise awareness about suicide and depression risk factors, particularly for African Americans and diverse communities; to share information on clinical and helping resources located in Hyattsville and the wider Metropolitan area; and to reduce the stigma associated with depression and suicide in diverse communities. A small group session led by wellness experts will be held for teens and adults, respectively, and translators will be provided.
