Vine and Branches Lutheran Church is joining Cedar Run Community Church's support to Nicaraguan youth. For 10+ years, Cedar Run [in Herndon] has been working in Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. To create employment opportunities for orphaned teens and at-risk young Nicaraguans living in poverty, they helped launch a bicycle shop at the Casa Bernabe orphanage in Veracruz, Nicaragua.

So far, we have helped collect more than 3,200 used bikes! Orphaned and at-risk teenage boys have been trained in repairing and selling the bikes, as well as the basics of running a small business. The bike shop profits have helped fund the Casa Bernabe orphanage and a missional outreach in the community.

William Chavarria runs the bike shop. For years he has worked in church planting and discipleship. At the bike shop William employs and disciples orphaned and at-risk youth. By mentoring young men through the Nica Bike shop William is raising up the next generation of godly leaders in Nicaragua.

Will you support William? Vine and Branches Lutheran Church is holding a Bike Collection Day on Sunday, September 7 at Liberty Elementary School. Please bring your old bikes to Liberty Elementary School and our team collects them, gives out tax receipts and hauls them away to load them into containers headed for Nicaragua. William and his team do the rest.

This is a good way to get yourself, friends, and family involved in something that's making a real difference in Nicaragua. We'd love to have you join us.

Bring a used bike if you are able
