  • Family Safety Tip: Grocery Recalls

    January 7, 2011 by
Filed under Family Safety Tip, Morning Show

After several large-scale, high-profile salmonella and E. coli outbreaks in recent years, you may wonder what threats could lurk in your grocery cart. The good news: Retailers and the government are on the case.

Club cards can have benefits beyond discounts. Stores like Costco, Kroger, ShopRite, Wegmans, Price Chopper, and Food Lion contact club-card holders who’ve purchased recalled items to alert them to the potential danger. And anyone can sign up to receive recall-alert e-mails atfda.gov/safety/recalls. Or view them at goodhousekeeping.com/recalls
