I’ve been married for almost three months now and it’s a blast. Of course there are those trying times of getting adjusted to each other – which I hear never stops no matter how long you’ve been married. But as the holidays get closer I gotta say I’m looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with my wife.

It’s our first one all by ourselves and I can’t wait to create our own traditions, like decorating the Christmas tree and burning the sweet potato pie (yeah, that’d be me). I know it’s probably sappy to say, but I wonder what memories we’ll have when we look back after several years have passed.

You probably have some of your own memories of that first Thanksgiving or Christmas with your husband or wife, kids, or close friends. Feel free to share them if you’d like. And happy holidays!

This was the second Thanksgiving my husband and I shared. (Apparently, the first was quite forgettable–we’ve now been married 9 years.) I had joined the Army just months before, we had a 1 year old, and my parents were coming to my home for Thanksgiving–for the first time since our marriage. We were still new at cooking, but had come a long way in the short time we were married. We decided to only cook a turkey breast, since we didn’t want to be eating leftovers for weeks. However, we ended up purchasing a turkey “roll.” We WAY underestimated the time to cook, so my parents patiently ate their potatoes, vegetables, and rolls while my husband and I nervously waited for the turkey to cook. I think it was about 90 minutes after we had the rest of the meal already served!
