  • Hope vs. Discouragement

We can all get discouraged at work from time to time, even if you have the greatest job, boss, co-workers, and salary on planet Earth.  Don’t know why, but I have been struggling over the past couple of days with thoughts and feelings of discouragement.

It finally occurred to me today that I need to start speaking life into my spirit if I want things to change.  Proverbs says “words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.  So here are some verses I’ve been speaking over myself today.  Maybe they’ll be helpful to you as well:

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Fix my eyes on God—soon I’ll be praising again.  -Ps 42:5

Don’t get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith. -Gal. 6:9

Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up.  Expect God to get here soon.  -Ps. 31:24

God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down.  -Ps. 27:6

God, your God, is leading the way; he’s fighting for you.  -Deu. 1:30

People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit.  Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.  -Is. 26:3

      Hi Angela:

I really like the morning show, I listen everyday on my way to work. This week I have the same situation with you. Thanks for the great blog to encourge me again.

    2. Hey! one of my favorite verses is Proverbs 18:21 Death and Life are in the Power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. What faith filled words are you speaking into your life? Speak Positive Faith filled words into your life and believe in your heart! Thanks for the encouraging words Angela – they really hit home today, and I mean that literally. Our family has been battling discouragement for the past few weeks – not over anything major, just all the “little foxes” of life. Thanks for the reminder that we can refocus our thoughts to line up with His word and make a world of change!

Everyday I listen on my way to work (1.5 hr drive) and I lean on the encouraging, faith filled music that I hear on your station. I just stumbled onto the blogs section of your website and this one really hit home. I go through discouraging times all throughout my week and I am always seeking and searching for God’s presence. The verses here are uplifting and spirit filled. Thank you for sharing…. it’s nice to know we’re never alone in our discouragement.
