If you find yourself struggling to balance the family schedule…today the Fly Lady came on the show to help. She has a calendar system and lots of tips for how and why you can say N-O! It’s okay to have days with nothing on it! The first thing to think about is to set limits for your family or your family is going to fall apart. She recommends the kids are allowed to have one extra-curricular activity per Semester.
Star Spangled Banner Anniversary
195 years ago today (On September 14, 1814) U.S. soldiers at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry raised a huge American flag to celebrate a crucial victory over British forces during the War of 1812. The sight of those “broad stripes and bright stars” inspired Francis Scott Key to write a song that eventually became the United States national anthem. Key’s words gave new significance to a national symbol and started a tradition through which generations of Americans have invested the flag with their own meanings and memories.
You can see this actual flag on display now at the Smithsonian American History Museum. It’s a fascinating exhibit that inspire you and be thankful for our country! If you can’t visit it in person, check out the online exhibit here
