WGTS 91.9 Featured Item of the Day: Homemade Granola

Granola
1 cup pitted dates
2 Tbsp maple syrup (optional)
2 ripe bananas
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tsp salt
8 cup rolled oats
1 cup chopped nuts (I use 1/2 cup each of pecans, slivered almonds)
1 cup unsweetened, shredded coconut (optional)
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
Process first 4 ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour over remaining ingredients. Stir together and mix well. Spread on cookie sheets to about 1/2″ thick. Bake 200 F degrees for 2 hours, stirring every hour, until golden and almost dry. Continue to bake, stirring every hour until dry. Store in airtight container.
