Railfest Steam Days
Date & Time: Oct. 8-9, Saturday 10 am – 4 pm
Location: B&O Railroad Museum, 901 W. Pratt Street, Baltimore MD 21223
Admission: Adults $14, Seniors (60+) $12, Children (2-12) $8
Train rides behind an historic steam engine, the St. Elizabeth #5! See the only Civil War steam engine in America, the William Mason #25 operate along the first commercial mile of railroad track laid in America! Programs and demonstrations highlight steam power and celebrate the Museum’s historic steam engine collection. Civil War encampment by the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry, Company E will be on hand to talk about the life of Union soldiers during the War and will conduct demonstrations and military drill. The Blacksmiths Guild of Central Maryland will demonstrate their unique skills and craftsmanship performing one of the most essential jobs necessary for the successful operation of early railroads.

Gaithersburg Oktoberfest at the Kentlands
Date & Time: Oct. 9, 12-4pm
Location: 320 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.
Admission: Free
Amidst horse-drawn wagon rides and pumpkin painting, festival goers can enjoy authentic Bavarian food and beer and lively performances by the Alte Kameraden German Band and Alt-Washingtonia Bavarian dancers. New to the festival this year will be an outdoor wine tasting and a children’s puppet show held indoors at Kentlands Mansion. Free performances on the Arts Barn Theater stage will include a variety of local dance and singing groups. Kids will also enjoy a full day of pony rides, moon bounce, face painting, art projects, and many other activities. Please note that there will be a fee for some activities.

Corn Maze at Buckland Farm Market
Date & Time: Sept. – Nov. , 11 am – 5 pm
Location: 4484 Lee Highway, Warrenton, Virginia
This event features a 4-acre Civil War themed corn maze, hayrides, a barrel train ride, farm animals, children’s play area and other activities. Civil War Encampment will be staged in an adjacent field on the weekend of Oct. 8 & 9.

Italian Festival

Location: Casa Italiana Cultural Center, 3rd and F Sts. NW Washington DC
The festival celebrates Italian-American culture with a lively street festival featuring traditional Italian music, dancing, art, crafts and of course food – such as fresh pizza, pasta, sausage and peppers, Italian sandwiches, baked goods and much more.
