Chaplain Terry joined the show to talk about the incident at Virginia Tech yesterday. He’s a licensed counselor and visited the campus shortly after the tragedy in 2007. This morning he shared some insight on both tragedies and gave advice to parents wanting to know how to talk to their kids about it. You can hear what he had to say at the bottom of the page.
James of Washington DC was our grand prize winner for our WOW moments. His name was chosen out of everyone who called in this week to share a moment from Christmas that made them say “wow”. He’ll get a huge brick of CDs from some of the artists we play too. If you want to hear his “Wow moment”, click here.
Today’s Positive Thoughts:
Love what you do. Do what you love.
Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.
It’s not what happens to you, It’s what you do about it.
When you get to the place where you would worry, Stop and pray.
Some other things making headlines today:
Michelle and Jim-Bob Duggar lost their baby. It would have been the 20th child to join their large family.
Police and the FBI are getting the CSI treatment with an app that’ll let them update the National Criminal Database by scanning fingerprints on their iPhone .
The Pentagon will be testing out their gunfire-detection systems this Sunday morning between 6 and noon. It’ll be in the south parking lot of the Pentagon and people in the area may hear firearms being discharged and see workers wearing yellow safety vests.
Most people know that talking or texting while driving is a bad idea, but they do it anyway. That’s what a study by the Transportation Department reveals. Most people surveyed admit there are few situations in which they wouldn’t talk or text while driving, but they support moves to limit or outlaw both practices. Distracted driving deaths totaled almost 31-hundred last year.
This truly is the giving season in the Grand Rapids area, as the layaway bills for some Kmart customers in Plainfield Township, Michigan have been paid off for the third straight day. A third anonymous person paid off around one-thousand dollars in layaway bills for strangers yesterday.
