Freezing cold weather may make you want to pull out the Crock pot. There’s nothing like coming home to the kitchen filled with warm smells.
Mom’s Yummy Beef Stew:
Coat 3 1/2-qt. slow-cooker w/ cooking spray; drop in 1 Tbs. margarine. In slow-cooker, layer 2 ribs celery (cut into 3/4″ pieces), 1 onion (chopped), 1 lb. potatoes, (peeled, cut into 1″ pieces). Rinse 1 lb. beef stew meat (cut into 1″ cubes); pat dry. In bowl, toss beef w/ 1 cup flour until coated. Place beef on top of carrots; sprinkle remaining excess flour over beef. Pour in 2 1/2 c. water; add 6 beef bouillon cubes, 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. Mrs. Dash or salt, 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes. Cover; cook on high 1 hour. Thoroughly stir stew; cover and cook on high 6 hours. Stir in 1 can green beans; cover and heat through about 5 mins. Serves 6.
