    No More Procrastination.  Tell us about something you wanted to get done in 2010, but have been putting off.

    Counting down the days for when we can officially break out the new 2011 Calendar.  Only a few more days left to make your 2010 a year to remember.  Is there something on your list that you wanted to get accomplished that you didn’t quite get to? Brennan wanted to learn how to cut hair…Amanda wanted to organize her photos and make some photo albums.  What about you?  We got some amazing stories this morning.  One family will spend New Years Day together this year after spending 2 years apart.

    Tell us about your most meaningful gift this Christmas!

    A newly married bride called us to tell us that her wedding pictures did not come out well, so for Christmas her husband collected pictures taken from their guests and made a special DVD full of videos and pictures.

    Family Safety Tip Squad:

    Kevin is now our newest member of our Family Safety Tip Squad.  He reminded us to be careful what kind of boxes you put it out on the curb for trash and recycling.  Bad guys can see that stuff and know what you got for Christmas and unfortunately take it out!

    Also, If you’re thinking about getting back to a workout routine in the new year…it’s also time to get a new pair of shoes to go with it!  Prevention Magazine says wearing old sneakers when you exercise can be detrimental to your health. The first thing that goes with old, comfortable shoes is shock absorption – which helps protect your feet and joints as you exercise. This can put extra pressure on bones – leading to soreness, and possibly a stress fracture. The fix? To prevent injury, stick to this shoe-replacement schedule: Buy new running shoes every 350 to 500 miles. So if you run 10 miles a week, you’d need to replace them after about eight months to a year. Also, you should purchase new walking shoes every six to nine months if you walk up to four miles a day, and replace aerobic shoes every six to nine months if you do three hours of aerobics each week.

    Starting next month all new stamps good for 1 ounce of first class mail will be marked as “forever”…the postmaster general will make that announcement Jan 14…instead of the 44 cents to help us cope with the cost of postage that keeps going up.

    Nutrition labels will start appearing on cuts of meat in 2012. They will show calories, calories from fat, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, protein and vitamins.

    It can be tough getting daycare for your kids when school is cancelled because of bad weather. So Fairfax County is offering parents a list of more than 900 day care providers and 30 day care centers in Fairfax County that will take your children on that kind of occasion.You can choose one close to your home or close to your work, depending on which one is easier for pickup.
